Reacting to noticing the search for tricks

I'm noticing a pattern where:

  1. I notice myself searching for tricks.
  2. I react to that — sometimes joking, sometimes frustrated.

I'm thinking about how this connects to meditation itself. In the context of opening awareness practice, when thoughts arise, there can be a habitual reaction to "catching ourselves" thinking. If I get irritated when I notice myself thinking and have this annoyed thought that I'm thinking, I'm gonna have a bad time. There's now thinking about thinking — thoughts spinning up more thoughts.

Maybe it's the same with reacting to "oh, searching for tricks again." I think I just caught myself looking for the trick to avoid searching for tricks. What a silly thought. 🤪
